Hosing them down with clean water keeps them looking as good as the day they were installed. This low maintenance combined with the long lifespan of our products contributes to reducing the amount of waste. We also review our shipping, handling, and packing processes and materials to minimise damage and product waste and to ensure materials are reused or recycled where possible.

Our commitment to the environment
Nature friendly
We understand the importance of nature and wildlife and for many of our customers, this is a key consideration in the design of their garden. There are several things that we can do to help your garden be more nature friendly. We have used advice and specifications issued by the hedgehog trust to incorporate a ‘hedgehog hole’ in your fence, ensuring hedgehogs can pass freely through your garden.
Our fence hangers can be used to encourage pollinators with hanging baskets or to hang bird feeders. Our sheds can be constructed on a special frame to avoid the need for a poured concrete base, reducing groundworks and leaving soil free to drain.
As algae and wood consuming pests will not affect your product there is no need to treat it with herbicide, fungicide or insecticide.
Reducing, reusing, recycling waste
At ColourFence we aim to deliver a circular economy by considering waste as a resource. We are committed to continual improvement of our environmental performance and meeting or exceeding all relevant environmental standards. We actively try to minimise packaging and stationery and sort head office waste to recycle.
Where waste is unavoidable, active consideration will be given to reuse and recycling; if the disposal is unavoidable then responsible waste management is always undertaken. To achieve this we work along with Anyjunk, disposing of any waste in the most eco-friendly way possible and reducing the CO2 impact from vehicles. This commitment includes the day-to-day waste from our Head Office too.
Optimising the use of energy
Our manufacturing operation in Newport, South Wales has procedures in place to help minimise energy use and we work with Welsh Water to ensure that all wastewater from our processes is clear of chemicals and sediment to a standard that exceeds their requirements. We work with our partners to minimise the number of deliveries made to our sites nationwide and to ensure that freight space is used efficiently.
