Get The Most From Your Garden This Summer

It’s safe to say we were spoilt with the weather in the UK over Easter, and it looks like May is on schedule to be sunny too! So being more optimistic about this upcoming summer we’ve decided to create a little list of suggestions to get the most out of your garden space.

For the Wildlife

Hedgehog Holes

If you read our earlier blog about getting your garden hedgehog ready, then you’ll know that hedgehogs are very close to our heart! They’re a unique and fascinating addition to any garden, but they need our help if the species is to survive. In order to help save these beautiful animals all you need to do is create a ‘hedgehog highway’ through your garden fence so that they can easily move through to get food and water. If you’d like to find out more about creating a hedgehog-friendly garden, then check out our hedgehog blog.

Bird Feeder

Another great way to get the most out of your garden is to inject some life to it. All you need to do to achieve this is to purchase, or create, a bird feeder or table and sooner or later a whole host of birds will turn up to enjoy their food in your garden. Why not check out this blog on how to make your own bottle bird feeder, read it if you’d like to put your craft skills to the test.

For the Practicality

Shed

The lawnmower, gardening tools, motor oil, plant pots, garden furniture, bicycles, and paint are just a few of the items that many of us like to have stored away safely. A durable shed is the perfect storage solution for those items since it keeps them out of sight, keeps them out of the house, and more importantly keeps them protected from the elements such as rain, snow and the sun. In anticipation for Summer, we’ve just launched our brand new ColourShed; a metal garden shed that’s made from galvanised steel. Compared to traditional garden sheds, our new metal garden shed doesn’t rot, doesn’t rust, doesn’t need painting and requires little to no maintenance leaving you more time to enjoy the beautiful weather, oh and thanks to it being made from galvanised steel ColourShed is fully fire-resistant. We’ll have more information about this new product ready to share with you soon.

Fence

A fence is not only a great way to make your garden more stylish, but it also keeps your garden secure and private – which means you can enjoy your cup of tea in peace as the dog wanders around without having to worry about the next door neighbour knocking at your door! With our extensive background in fencing, we’d recommend looking into installing modern metal garden fences, rather than traditional wooden fences because modern metal fences can be powder coated meaning that they don’t need to be painted. In the Marketplace, ColourFence is one of the few fences out there which ticks all the boxes, our fences are guaranteed not to rot, rust or warp for 25 years and can withstand gusts up to 130mph.

For Enjoying your Garden

Awnings

Who else relishes the opportunity to sit in the garden when the sun comes out? With awnings, you can enjoy the garden any day of the year. Modern garden awnings are no longer just for commercial installations, they now are available in all shapes and sizes, they can be motorized, and they can even have lights and heaters in! Having your own garden awning gives you the flexibility to sit outside in the sun, or to sit outside in the evening with overhead protection providing light and warmth.

Plants

Finally, add a spot of colour to your garden with the help of plants which will attract wildlife too! Not only is lavender bright with a relaxing and welcoming scent, but it is also easy to care for and is a favourite amongst bees and butterflies. You can plant Lavender in the spring as the soil is warming up, but we’d recommend that the best time of year is usually in the autumn so that it blossoms during the next coming spring.

These are just a few easy to do things or add, to your garden that we’d recommend for you to get the most out of it.
