At this time of year, most of us have been eager for the summer weather to land and this year is no exception to that rule – in fact even more so in 2021, with the constraints of lockdown bearing down upon us for many months we spent much time confined to our homes and gardens. However, no matter how dismal things have felt at times, we have remained optimistic for sunshine ahead!

So, with lockdown restrictions easing we can all look forward to more family gatherings, garden parties and hopefully something closer to normality over the latter part of the year!

Many of us have created our own “in garden” entertainment areas, whether that be a decorative pagoda, built BBQ or even a “pub at home” feature in a garden shed or outhouse. Since the pandemic, our gardens have become are more important part of our lives, both in terms of the time we spend in them and what we do there too – whether that’s more time spent gardening, or, where guidelines allow, more time spent entertaining friends and family outdoors.

Yet no one can deny the weather has been up to some funny tricks in recent times. Of course, the keen gardeners amongst us might not have been quite so pleased when heavy rain or cold snaps affected their delicate new plants.

So, even though the weather often feels a little unpredictable and might make outdoor entertaining a little trickier (although there’s always a gazebo!), you hopefully have an even more colourful garden. But where does this leave the hardscape elements of the garden? Well, if your fence were groaning under the weight of drifted snow and struggling to stand against the accompanying icy winds of the winter then you could consider an alternative that is tougher than traditional wooden fencing – such as ColourFence. This type of steel fencing needs very little aftercare, and it makes for a very attractive decorative feature in your garden too – perfect for all those post-lockdowns get togethers, and BBQs!

In the coming weeks, we can hope for even more sunshine. Keep a look out for bumblebees and butterflies, frogs in ponds and garden birds nesting with their chicks. Enjoy your time spent in your outdoor spaces.

And if you are not looking to replace a fence, but you are looking for a beautiful new gate, or garden rail to add even more beauty to your garden, we do those too, as well as garden sheds that also won’t groan under the weight of a thousand showers, winter snow, and a gust or few of wind!

ColourFence works whatever the weather.
